Why I Created The Rose’s Slow Pedagogy Framework
The Rose’s Slow Pedagogy Framework was created from my personal journey, professional experience and deep love for early childhood education.
I am a 32-year-old mother of three, supported by a loving husband and a family who continue to encourage me to follow my passion.
The framework is named after my sister, Rosemary—my greatest inspiration and strongest supporter. She has always lifted me up, believed in my dreams and encouraged me to keep going.
The love, nurture and care Rosemary gives to me are the same values I want to bring to the educators, leaders and services I support.
My professional experiences also shaped the framework.
Throughout my career, I have attended team meetings where educators were asked questions such as, “How do you view our team culture?” and “Why do you come to work each day?”
These are important questions. However, I often noticed they were directed only towards educators, while management remained separate from the reflection.
When educators raised concerns about hierarchy, they were sometimes told that hierarchy did not exist. Yet the structure of the meeting still positioned management as the questioners and educators as the people expected to provide the answers.
This made me question whether some services have lost sight of what genuine team culture means.
A strong team culture cannot be built by asking educators to reflect while leadership remains outside the conversation. Management must also be willing to answer the same questions, listen openly, acknowledge concerns and reflect on how their own practices influence the team.
The Rose’s Slow Pedagogy Framework encourages management and educators to sit together, learn together and reflect as one team.
It does not remove leadership responsibilities. Instead, it promotes equality, shared accountability and respectful communication.
I created this framework because I believe professional development should not feel like something being delivered from above. It should be a shared experience where everyone has a voice, including educators, leaders, and management.
By slowing down and creating space for honest reflection, services can identify what is truly happening within their culture. They can move beyond surface-level conversations and begin building trust, stronger relationships and healthier ways of working together.
The Rose’s Slow Pedagogy Framework was created to provide the support I often wished I had experienced throughout my own career.
It carries Rosemary’s name, her heart and her belief in lifting others up.
My goal is to bring that same passion, love and nurture into every service I support, helping educators and leaders feel heard, valued and empowered to grow together.
